To reduce the amount of landfill, recycling has become very important today. However, it\u2019s a tedious task. Imagine separating paper from plastic – isn\u2019t it a daunting job to do? Wouldn\u2019t it be nice if a robot can do this painful task for us? Probably, Aldous Hicks, a mechanical engineer and programmer, read your thoughts and came up with a recycling solution for your home in form of a robot called Lasso. <\/p>\n

This robot is claimed to identify, accept, and prepare recycling<\/a> for the proper reuse of different materials. It can automatically recycle plastic and glass. All you need to do is drop an item into this machine and it will analyze the item and further grind it up if it\u2019s recyclable. Later, it prepares the remaining material for disposal.<\/p>\n

Lasso representative Kieran White, said,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Hicks believes that when you mix up different items all together at the beginning \u2013 whether it is data or used-materials \u2013 they are difficult to separate later. Everything then ends up being wasted. Within a month he wrote down his first \u2018used-materials in\/valuable products out\u2019 solution for his home recycling system. He has since spent part of his life working to fix this vital problem.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The new startup has already raised enough capital for building products that will be shipped in September 2022. They are also launching a pickup service in the San Francisco Bay Area – around San Jose and San Mateo. Later, they will expand their pickup service into other parts of the United States. But don\u2019t be too excited about getting your hands on this product just yet. It would cost you around $3,500 when it ships. If money is not an issue for you, then you can certainly think of getting one unit for your home.<\/p>\n

\"Lasso<\/p>\n

According to the company, Lasso home recycling is a system that ensures that good quality products re-enter the proper recycling chain. They are also working to pick up different materials in the machine when it gets full. Since all the sorting of materials is done at home, the recycling centers won\u2019t have to spend a lot of money on hiring people to separate different materials. Moreover, this machine even cleans each object so that it\u2019s all set for recycling.<\/p>\n

If this machine works as per the designer\u2019s intent, it would certainly be a great option for recycling. However, for now, you must only work on rinsing the glassware or crushing the plastic that you want to toss into the bin.<\/p>\n
